Maintaining Sieve Performance and Longevity

Practical considerations for cleaning, handling, inspection and storage of industrial sieves.

Maintaining Sieve Performance and Longevity

Why Sieve Care Matters

Industrial sieves and screens should be handled carefully during use, cleaning and storage. Regular inspection can help identify visible damage or wear before the component is returned to service.

Cleaning

Cleaning procedures should be appropriate for the sieve material, construction and the product being processed. Care should be taken to avoid cleaning methods that could unnecessarily damage the mesh, perforation or frame.

Handling

Fine mesh and precision screen components can be vulnerable to damage if they are dropped, bent or handled incorrectly.

  • Handle sieves carefully during removal and installation
  • Avoid unnecessary impact on frames and screening surfaces
  • Do not place heavy components on fine mesh
  • Inspect the sieve before returning it to service

Inspection

Periodic visual inspection can help identify obvious damage, deformation or deterioration. The inspection method and frequency should be determined according to the application and the user's internal procedures.

Storage

When not in use, sieves should be stored in a clean and suitable location where the frame and screening surface are protected from unnecessary physical damage.
